Hailey is the main contact and main photographer for Hailey & Joel.
Hailey typically photographs engagement sessions, elopements and small weddings alone.
For weddings with both photographers, Hailey & Joel both photograph the couple getting ready at the beginning of the day (Hailey with one partner, Joel with the other). They both photograph candids throughout the day, and important moments, like the kiss and first dance, from different angles.
Hailey is the main photographer, so she will be the one photographing most of the portraits and main detail shots. She will also photograph the processional from the head of the aisle, and most of the ceremony from the center of the aisle. Joel will photograph the processional from the back of the aisle, and focus on capturing candid moments from the side aisles at the ceremony.
We mostly photograph weddings in southern Maine and coastal Maine, but we love to travel! Please contact us for more information about travel.
We feel so strongly about having a second photographer that we now include Joel in all of our wedding collections. He may also be added to any elopements.
We can be photographing in two different places, which gives us a lot more images of your day to send your way!
We offer a variety of sizes in prints and canvas gallery wraps. We also offer gorgeous wedding albums available in leather or linen.
Of course! We’re always up for a coffee, lunch or even drink date! We think meeting in person is so important before the wedding day. It allows us to get to know each other, and be comfortable in each other’s company before the big day. If you live outside of Maine we can Skype, speak on the phone, or meet at your engagement session (if you’re having one.)
Of course! We offer packages both with and without engagement sessions.
Thank you! that’s exciting news! We can’t wait to hear more about your plans. To lock in your date we require 1/3 of you total as a retainer and an electronically signed contract.
Yes! We love seeing shots of the dress, or hearing about your vision in general. If there’s anything you think we should know ahead of time, then send it over. It only helps us prepare better for your wedding day.
Yes. We have six different camera bodies that come with us. We have a variety of lenses to cover everything from close-ups of the rings to the full dance floor at the reception. We also have lots of lighting, fully-charged batteries and enough memory cards to shoot for days.
The amount of images you receive will depend on the hours of coverage that you have, but we usually deliver about 100 images per hour of shooting. So, for an eight-hour wedding, that’s approximately 800 images.
As soon as your photos are ready, you will receive a link to a gallery of images to share with family and friends where prints and products can be ordered. You will also receive a flash drive and print release by mail.
We will process and deliver your images as soon as possible, but delivery of images takes approximately 6-8 weeks during busy wedding season.
Yes. A third of your final package total is due at booking to hold your wedding date.
Hailey typically photographs portrait sessions alone.
Yes! Hailey travels all throughout Maine for portrait sessions, but is also available to travel farther.
We have a limited number of spots available in the summer and fall months due to photographing weddings, so we recommend booking as soon as possible. We also take a limited number of seniors, so spots go quickly!
1.5-2 hours. This can vary depending on how many locations are used.
Unfortunately, we do not photograph families or newborns at this time.
We love doing portraits year-round! Spring is gorgeous with all the new flowers and pops of color everywhere. We just have to avoid the mud! Summer is very popular for senior sessions and the warmth is rather enjoyable. Fall provides a gorgeous backdrop with the changing leaves. Winter is one of my favorite seasons to photograph in because everything pops against the snow. Plus, cocoa, scarves and mittens make for adorable props!
We’ll also schedule your session to start two hours before sunset to get the best light.
Yes. We schedule portrait sessions to start roughly two hours before sunset. The soft light is wonderful, and we can avoid the squinting and harsh shadows that come with sunlight earlier in the day.
We recommend bringing one casual outfit, and one dressy outfit. Stick to solid colors. A basic pattern like a strip or soft floral works well if paired with neutral accessories and simple hair. Most importantly, wear something that you feel comfortable in! If you’re being photographed with another person consider complimentary colors, but try to avoid matching too much. You can also check out our Style Guide for more ideas.
Two is a good number. One casual, and one dressy is what I suggest.
Every session is different, but we typically deliver 50-75 fully edited images in your gallery.
Yes. All clients receive a link to an online viewing gallery, where they can order prints, products, and a USB of the digital negatives.
We always encourage our clients to pick their portrait session location so that it holds special meaning. Fields, the woods, a lake, or a beach by the ocean are all great backdrops. Picking a spot that you love will reflect in your photos and make them that much better.
Payment in full is due at booking, along with a an electronically signed contract.
