Morganne and Mike’s micro wedding in Watertown, Massachusetts was a bit different from what they had originally planned when we met up with them last year, but like every couple planning a 2020 wedding, they had to make the difficult decision to either postpone the whole thing or scale back significantly. Originally, they planned to do a bit of both—hold a small ceremony and dinner with just immediate family this year, then have a bigger celebration next year. The plan changed a bit, which you’ll hear more about below.

Morganne, Mike, and their families worked hard on transforming the backyard of their apartment into an elegant ceremony location with a beautiful tablescape for dinner, which was prepared by a private chef. Flowers were planted, an arbor was built, and twinkly lights were hung, creating a breathtaking space. Honestly, it was one of my favorite wedding locations I’ve photographed.

To start the day, we met up with Morganne and Mike for their first look at the Charles River Greenway, a favorite running spot for Morganne. Then, it was off to their home for the rest of the celebration with their twelve closest family members. There was special hand sanitizer on-site, napkins that read “quarantined for life,” and conversation about whose Covid-19 test experience was worse. We’re so appreciative of how cautious everyone was and how much care was put into the day.

After experiencing the magic of their intimate wedding day, Morganne and Mike decided that the perfection couldn’t be topped and that they didn’t need another big celebration, and I can’t blame them because these are some of my favorite photos ever.
