Sara & Ian’s Tented Bar Harbor Wedding at the Bar Harbor Club

Sara and Ian's tented Bar Harbor wedding took place nine months after I met them in Hancock Point for their engagement photos. I remember us looking across the water toward Bar Harbor as we discussed their plans for the day. They brought on Rachel Sisson of R.L. Sisson Events as well as The Silver Arrow Band, so I knew the day would be both beautiful and fun.

While we've photographed many weddings at the Bar Harbor Club, we've never photographed a tented wedding there, so I was excited to see how the space would be transformed. It did not disappoint!

Sara and Ian were one of our lucky few couples this year who missed out on rain. If you're unaware, it was the rainiest wedding season we've ever had in our thirteen years as wedding photographers. However, these two had a rare sunny and humid July day that actually felt like summer. Hurrah!

As Joel and I inched closer to Bar Harbor, we noticed fog moving in. The sky was still bright blue, so I knew we'd have a fantastic backdrop for their first look, which took place at the stunning La Rochelle Mansion in Bar Harbor. One of my favorite parts of the day was walking alone with Sara from the Bar Harbor Club to the mansion. She was excited and maybe a bit nervous, but I mainly noticed how she spent the entire walk asking me how Joel and I were doing, what our wedding season had been like, what we were up to, etc. She spent so much of the day checking in with other people, which shows what a wonderful person she is.

My second favorite part of the day was watching Ian get emotional as Sara walked down the aisle. He surprised more than just me with his tears. It was delightful.
