McKayla and Brendan's Maine wedding at Granite Ridge Estate & Barn happened over the fourth of July weekend. These two had to reschedule multiple times, so they were more than ready to have a good time when the day finally arrived. The day was chilly for July, but I have to say that it was so refreshing after a long stretch of unbearably hot weather. We kept our eyes on the sky because there was rain in the forecast, but we lucked out for the most part because the worst it did was light rain during the ceremony. This led to a pretty comical moment when one of the groomsmen grabbed an umbrella, held it over Brendan, and the officiant yelled, "what about the bride!?"McKayla and Brendan's Bernese Mountain Dog, Roosevelt, was around to get ready (he was the first to greet me, which made my day), the ceremony, and some portraits. After slipping out of the main house later in the evening, he decided to grace us with his presence again as he ran a lap through the barn during dinner to a room full of delighted cheers.
Another highlight of the day for me was seeing Brendan on the dance floor. McKayla and the bridesmaids had been listening to music as they got ready, and when the song "Down" by Jay Sean came on, one of the bridesmaids said, "it's a good thing Brendan's not here right now!" I had no idea what this meant until later that night. The room erupted when the DJ started to play it, and everyone circled McKayla and Brendan as he screamed every word and danced the hardest I think I've ever seen a groom dance. It was great.
Here are some favorites— Enjoy!
