Want to know what makes me the happiest? Photographing portraits with dogs! When Alexis and her family learned that her childhood pet, a beagle named Jazmine, had cancer, Alexis knew she wanted to have some photos documenting them together while Jazmine was still feeling okay. Alexis is in college now and lives on her own with her other pup, Polar, but the bond between these two was powerful—you’ll see what I mean in the photos below. We spent an afternoon together right in our hometown of Orrington and let Jazmine and Polar dictate how we spent our time. The dogs were hilarious together! Polar was very unimpressed with the entire situation—you’ll see plenty of evidence of this throughout the post. Jazmine was still energetic, running around and standing on her back legs to beg for treats.
Sadly, Alexis let me know last week that Jazmine had passed a little quicker than they had expected, and I’m so glad that we managed to squeeze in this session before it was too late. I’m happy that I got to spend time with her, and if I could go back, I would schedule portrait sessions with my childhood pets. I’d love to have photos like this with them.
Here are some favorites.
