Kayla's Bar Harbor wedding portraits came about after I met her through my brother's girlfriend. They had gone to high school together. I had just purchased a new lens for my camera and was itching to get out and photograph someone with it, so I reached out to Kayla.
We met up at my apartment in Bangor, where she got ready. Can we take a minute to appreciate the fantastic job she did on her makeup? And that classic red lip!? From there, we headed to downtown Bar Harbor, where we came upon a vintage red Volkswagen Beetle. The owner offered to let us take a few photos by it without even having to ask.
As we wandered through town, strangers kept yelling out, "Congratulations!" and, "where's your spouse?" Kayla would tell a hilarious story about him running late, and then we'd scurry off to our next location.
We headed to Sand Beach in Acadia National Park to end our session. It was approaching sunset, so I knew we'd likely have the beach to ourselves, which we did.
I had so much fun photographing Kayla, and I am already planning our next shoot together if she's up for it.
Here are my favorite portraits of her from Bar Harbor.
