I thought we’d never get to meet Emily and Chris. They originally booked us for their May 2019 wedding but were forced to postpone when their venue closed unexpectedly. Then Covid hit, so they delayed again and cut their guest list to a much smaller group. Then Covid became a much bigger problem than we all initially expected, so they put a pin in planning and asked if they could reach out in the future and work around our open dates. My heart broke for them because wedding planning is stressful enough without obstacles like these. Finally, when June 2020 rolled around, they decided to make it official and get married. The celebration could come later.
Finally, three years after their original wedding dates (four years after booking us) and four venues later, Emily and Chris got to have their celebration. At this point, a few other significant family events had occurred. They had welcomed a second child, other marriages and babies in the family had happened, and Emily’s parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. When Emily reached out, she wrote something like, “it’s not really going to be a wedding anymore. I don’t think I’ll put my wedding dress on. It’s basically going to be a family reunion at this point. I’m not sure it’s worth your time to photograph.” I convinced her that it was still worth photographing because when were they going to have these people all together in one place again? Then I discovered that the band was still coming and there’d be dancing. Heck yeah! If you don’t know, the dance floor is one of our favorite places to capture wedding photos. You never know what’s going to happen.
So, here are some favorites from Chris and Emily’s New Castle, NH wedding celebration/family reunion at Wentworth by the Sea. So happy that it finally happened!
