Ashley and AJ's Edgecomb, Maine wedding at Glidden Point Oyster Farms was our first at the venue. They planned an intimate gathering where their closest friends and family could enjoy views of the Damariscotta River from the ceremony before dining together on fresh oysters and lobster under an incredibly cozy tent. It was really a dream scenario.
Even after thirteen years of photographing weddings, there are always some first-day-of-school-like nerves on the drive to every wedding. However, when we arrived at Ashley and AJ's rental to document them getting ready, AJ met us at the door with the biggest, most excited smile I think we've ever been greeted with. Instantly, the nerves were gone, and I was so excited to start photographing.
Though they had decided to get ready in the same space, they still wanted to keep their dresses a surprise until the first look. There was much peeking out of doors and sneaking around to ensure they didn't see each other.
After a first look in scorching temps, which we would definitely not complain about after all the rain we'd experienced this season, we caravaned over to Glidden Point Oyster Farms for the ceremony and reception.
I loved witnessing Ashley and AJ's emotions during their vows and how emotional their family was. Fun fact: AJ's best friend is married to Ashley's sister. That's how they met! I can only imagine how epic their holidays are.
One of my favorite moments of the day was the presentation of Ashley and AJ's custom lobster bibs. AJ's sister had spent about eighty hours on the beading of these bibs. They were the fanciest lobster bibs I've ever seen, and Ashley and AJ's reaction to them was hilarious.
