We first met Amanda and Parker in 2018 at Parker's sister's wedding, which we also had the pleasure of photographing in Biddeford Pool (hi, Alex and Jeremy!). Joel and I still talk about how that wedding was one of our favorites. So, when Alex reached out to see if we'd be interested in photographing Amanda and Parker's wedding in a little over a month, we were beyond excited to reconnect with everyone.
Amanda and Parker had been engaged for three years, but with their busy lives—juggling careers and raising their little one—the wedding was put on hold. Eventually, they decided to make it happen more intimately, with Parker's mom taking the lead on planning. The ceremony location was an easy choice: Parker's family home on the water in Biddeford Pool. Check! For dinner, they had their hearts set on Earth at Hidden Pond. When they reached out to inquire about availability, they were given one date: the Fourth of July. They immediately jumped at the chance and fully embraced the holiday spirit, asking guests to dress in red, white, and blue.
As a photographer, I'm a big fan of backyard weddings—they're relaxed and personal and allow you to be present with your loved ones. The day was filled with warm, heartfelt moments—and even some unexpected humor. Like when Parker and Amanda realized they had forgotten about appetizers for cocktail hour. They had a stash of pizza rolls that they had initially bought for their daughter, and suddenly, they became the perfect, last-minute snack for their guests—festively served with red, white, and blue toothpicks!
Another humorous moment came when the flower girls wanted to join the adults with their own "fancy" drinks. Parker's mom poured apple juice into champagne glasses and topped it off with sparkling water for a little extra fizz. Little moments like these—those spontaneous, unplanned ones—truly make a wedding day unforgettable.
